Can you park at churches

I lead our team at one of our satellite campuses and have been running teams for years. I noticed that one of the difficulties we have his asking staff and teams to park in our designated area to allow sufficient space for our guests to make it as easy and welcoming as possible. We have signs, alternatives like golf carts for those who park far etc.

Has anyone run into this issue and tackled it successfully? It was humbling and life-changing. I have been serving as a Parker for a littler over ten years, now. It is so much more rewarding than I could have ever imagined! I am the PRE-Greeter!!! Be prompt and park YOUR vehicle in a remote area of the lot, giving preference to those who may need to walk fewer steps. Park along the perimeter of the lot, preferably. Be early enough to actually be in the parking lot 30 minutes prior to the start of a service and be prepared to remain in the lot until 15 minutes after the service has begun or until traffic dwindles down which ever comes later.

Modest shorts and light shirts may be worn during warmer weather and, in the winter, think layers: overcoats, jackets, windbreakers, sweats, etc. And, a good pair of gloves are worth their weight in gold! This indicates to drivers that you are acting in an official capacity and have some level of authority.

Be careful, safe, and alert. Be cognizant of pedestrians, especially small children, running in the parking lot or moving behind vehicles whose drivers may not be able to see them.

Safety is always your first priority. Also, if the situation warrants it, motion vehicles to slow down in the parking lot.

Whenever appropriate, instead of stopping vehicles, direct them around pedestrian traffic. Remember, this is a private parking lot and we reserve the right to redirect traffic patterns.

Direct those with handicap designations to the proper parking spaces. Also look for vehicles displaying out-of-state license plates, as these will typically belong to visitors and recent transfers to Texas. If possible, make an effort to park them near entrances. Go out of your way to welcome them. DO NOT attempt to direct traffic off the church premises.

We do not have city authorization to park vehicles on the street. And, do it with authentic enthusiasm. You can also use current holidays or weather e. As is prudent and appropriate, offer help to everyone particularly small children, the elderly, and the handicapped. Be innovative and seek opportunities to exhibit thoughtfulness. Be willing to go above and beyond. Serve each person as unto the Lord.

People matter to God; therefore, they matter to us. Make sure to call ahead. If there is a church service the next day, you should go and make sure if you are plugged in that you move your RV out of the way of the main parishioner parking. We even have developed a schedule using Thousand Trails campgrounds of which we are members and churches.

Thousand Trails has a park-to-park 4 day option. So, we would get to a TT park on Sunday night and stay for nights. Then we would move to another TT park until Saturday night when we would camp in a church parking lot. Attend Sunday church and head back to a TT park that night, repeating the weekly sequence. We have never stayed overnight in a church parking lot, but we often stop there for lunch breaks.

It is especially good during the weekdays and Saturdays. During the pandemic, Sundays were also okay, but now churches will be meeting in-person starting in the fall. Try a local hospital lot. Patients and visitors arrive and leave at all times of the day and night. Could a local church parking lot be the answer to your overnight parking prayers? You can also look for churches that might be convenient along your route.

However, if you do mention you plan to attend services, it may help. Make sure you have permission and comply with the law. Sometimes, finding out if you can sleep at a church is tricky. Then you need to ask permission and for specific rules. Other times, it is easy to find out if you can sleep at a church. Finally, some churches and other places of worship are listed as safe places to stay.

Some of these lots are city-owned; others belong to business owners or nonprofits. If a church is listed, it may include guidelines such as maximum vehicle size or the number of vehicles. If you are following all the guidelines, you are not trespassing while parking on a listed lot.

There may be no open church parking lot in your area. This means there must be 5 parking spaces per each 1, square feet of building. A 22, square foot building requires These square foot ratios vary by municipality and building type.

For churches, auditorium seating will determine the number of parking spaces required. The code for each municipality varies, but the most common ratios are and Some municipalities have ratios as high as one parking space per eight people.
